Refrigerator / Freezer FAQs

Q: What is the ideal temperature to set my GE refrigerator to? – Ella Johnson, Forsyth GA
A: A fridge should be cold but not too cold or else it could potentially freeze the contents. The ideal temperature for your GE fridge would be between 35 to 38 degrees Fahrenheit.

Q: Why is the frost forming in my Amana Refrigerator? – Rob Wood, Cherokee GA
A: This is a common refrigerator problem The reason why it happens is due to water vapor hitting cold coils and then frost forms. Just like the steam from your breath on a cold window, the water vapor condenses and turns into water. As that water condenses onto the coils, it freezes and then forms a layer of frost.

Q: What does the dan in my Sub Zero refrigerator do? – Megan Cohen, Atlanta GA
A: There are normally 2 fans. One fan helps cool the compressor. It also forces air through the exterior refrigerator coils. The second one’s purpose is force air to move around the coils which improves the cooling efficiency.

Q: Why is my Frigidaire freezer’s alarm buzzing? – Tom Mclain, Carroll GA
A: Your freezers temperature is above 20 degrees F. So turn temp alarm off til the temperature is below 20 degrees F. Be sure freezer is properly leveled, and that the door closes freely and gaskets seal properly.
